Tuesday 31st March

Tonight, a different activity!   You will be aware that the Great British Spring Clean Campaign has been ongoing during March where groups of volunteers all over the country litter pick their local public areas and generally give them a good Spring Tidy Up.    Tonight we are taking part in the Walsall Area Campaign by doing a Plogging Session in Rough Wood.

Plogging is where we jog and pick litter at the same time - by jogging around we can cover greater areas than if we just walked.   We will plog in pairs with one person having a collection bag and the other carrying a litter picker.  We will spread ourselves out over Rough Wood and pick as much litter as we can during our 45 minute or so session before it gets too dark!    Full instructions given on the evening.

All equipment including gloves will be supplied but if you have your own pair of gardening gloves feel free to bring these.  We will leave all collected litter bags by the bin in the Rough Wood car park at the bottom of Hunts Road and I will arrrange for the council to pick them up.

Should be great fun and we will be doing our little bit to improve our local area.   We are inviting members of the Tuesday ladies walking group to join us for this activity.

Thursday 2nd March

Tonight, to celebrate the long awaited return of the lighter evenings - hooragh!!

we are returning to the canal to do an Out and Back towards Walsall.  With sunset on Thursday around 7.45pm we should make it back to the RBL in plenty of time before darkness falls!

Starting from club we turn right out of the RBL and left onto Bloxwich Rd N.

We continue past Woodlands School  and past One Stop Shops and Pooles Lane (care needed when crossing!) into Wood Lane and pass under the M6 bridge.

We are now in Willenhall Lane and continue over the canal bridge (do not join the canal here as its still a bit muddy!) to Bloxwich Academy junction with Leamore Lane.  Carefully cross over Leamore Lane and turn left towards Furdeco and the canal bridge making sure we are on the footpath on the right hand side of the road as we approach the canal bridge.

Just before the bridge take the footpath on the right which leads us down onto the tarmac towpath. Turn RIGHT onto the towpath heading towards the new incinerator and Walsall.   Continue southbound along the canal until around 7.30pm.  At this time, wherever your group has got to,  about turn and retrace your route back to the RBL.

As long as all groups observe this turn around time, everyone should make it back to the RBL before it gets dark.

The towpath is fully hard surfaced for the whole route so no mud worries!

Please, indicate your choice of pace group in our SneydRuns WhatsApp group so we can plan leaders ands groups accordingly.  Thank you!
