Sneyd Striders History

The Sneyd Striders Running Club has a rich history, having been formed in 1984 by John & Rita Pedley. The club has grown significantly over the years, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024. Despite facing eviction from its previous location, the club has found a new home and continues to thrive.

2001 - Grand union canal race.

A successful Glyn on the 145 mile Grand union canal race from Birmingham to London. In this picture Glyn is holding his finishers plaque and surrounded by the support team of - Nigel Churchill, Dick Johnson, Jill Hill, Mac Mills, Geoff Farnell, Kevin Postins, Ian Hill, Trevor Simms and Stan Harrison.

2006 - Treadmill world record

Sneyd striders made history by breaking the 7 day team treadmill world record.

The event was staged in the shop window of Lilywhites, Piccadilly circus, London and raised much need funds for the National Autistic society.
